The Benna Ford Roush Superior Watercross Shootout was definitely one to watch this weekend as rough waters and cooler weather made for great racing and even greater finishes. The race site located on Barkers Island in Superior, Wisconsin offered a great location that allowed easy access to food venders and parking for the fans.

Racing this weekend was anyone’s game as the rough waters on Sunday left a few of the top riders watching the last laps of their finals. It opened the door to a few racers that had yet to see the podium this season. With a five week break until the final stop at the BIR Wet N’ Wild Fall event and rumors of a Strub and Fischer showdown in drags, BIR could prove to be one of the best events for racing the IWA has seen in a long time. 


Brian McCurdy Jr. fought a hard battle with Dale Lindbeck in the Pro-Open final that was decided by an all out drag to the finish line.


After a few minutes to review who had one the drag to the finish line, Lindbeck “The Legend” was back on top sweeping the weekend in Pro-Stock and Pro-Open. Dale Also won a trip to Las Vegas for winning the Pro-Open Final thanks to Benna Ford Roush.

Mike Simmons finally took home the hardware in Semi-Pro Open after a season that has been filled with fourth place finishes. Simmons has has a great season filled with consistency and looks to continue going into Brainerd.


Blake Pendzimas has kept the momentum rolling and brought home the top spot in both 800 Drags and Semi-Pro Stock Ovals.


C & A Pro Skis athletes swept the podium in Pro-Stock Ovals with Dale Lindbeck (middle) in first, followed by Derek McPheeters (left) in second and David Fischer (right) in third.


Scheuring Speed Sports brought the new rig out to Barkers Island to help promote the event and their sponsors.


Austin McCurdy was a victim of the choppy waters on Sunday and for the first time this season watched the Semi-Pro Open final from shore.


Matt Ledin continues to be consistent in the last half of the season.


Simmons, Engstrand and Keith were very tight coming off the line in heats for Sundays Final.


David Fischer once again took the top spot in Mod-Drags and also a 3rd place in Pro-Stock Ovals.
