On Saturday Mother Nature graced us with beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures that had racers feeling rejuvenated and ready to race! In the Sport 600 Final Scott VandeBorne (London Recreational Racing, Ski-Doo) came into the final after winning both of his heats and with 1st pick at the gate for the final he was the favourite to win. And that he did. David Solecki (5th Line Racing, Polaris) battled hard with Taylor McCoy (McCoy Racing, Ski-Doo). Solecki came out on top finishing 2nd, with McCoy in 3rd. And for the topic of the weekend and likely a story told for years to come, Scott VandeBorne (London Recreational Racing, Ski-Doo) stepped up to race Pro-Lite for his very first time. Not only did he race back-to-back finals but VandeBorne took the win for the Pro-Lite final. In 2nd place Yanick Boucher (Boucher Plumbing, Ski-Doo) was happy with his finish and Blake Taylor (London Recreational, Ski-Doo) took the 3rd. In the Pro Open final Iain Hayden (Rockstar Energy, OTSFF, Polaris) placed 1st, followed by current National points leader Lee Butler (Royal Distributing, Technica Mining, Country Corner Arctic Cat) in 2nd. And for his very first podium in the Pro Open class (it’s also his first year running Pro Open) was Ben Holmes (Country Corner, Arctic Cat).

On Sunday Scott VandeBorne (London Recreational Racing, Ski-Doo) took the win once again and with this victory he was able to capture first place in all his finals, and heats, for the entire weekend. In 2nd place, in his debut season, was Russ Zarzecny (509, Ski-Doo) followed by Taylor McCoy (McCoy Racing, Ski-Doo) in 3rd. In the Pro-Lite class Jacob Gervais (G-Force Racing, Polaris) put on an excellent show for his hometown crowd almost catching the field in the last lap placing 1st overall. Derek Sanftenberg (Sierra Motorsports, Arctic Cat) and Mitch McNair (McNair Racing, Arctic Cat) battled hard but Sanftenberg took the lead in the last corner of the last lap and held it to the finish line. McNair placed 3rd. In the Pro Open Final fan favourite Iain Hayden (Rockstar Energy, OTSFF, Polaris) got thrown from his sled in the first corner and but worked his was up to 4th and was catching 3rd place finished Stale Eggen (Bailey Motorsports, Ski-Doo). Dylan Hall (Rockstar Energy, OTSFF, Polaris) kept the pressure on Lee Butler (Royal Distributing, Country Corner Artic Cat) for the entire race. In the end Butler was able to fend off Hall taking the victory from start to finish. Hall placed 2nd.

The next round of Rockstar Energy National Snowcross Championship action heads to Timmins, Ontario March 7-8th for the Eclipse Financial Snowcross Pro Challenge.
