Team Southside Expands For 2016

Team Southside Polaris’ builds off success; expands horizon for 2015/2016 Season

Team Southside Polaris is coming off of a banner year winning 11 championships out of 14 classes at the completion of the 2015 race season. These championships included Pro Lite rookie Cody Paolella winning the Pro Lite Championship, Nykea Williams winning the Pro Womens championship for the second year in a row, Ryan Dupont winning one Sport class in his rookie season, Bruce Gaspardi Jr winning the Championship in 2 other Sport classes and in Plus 25, and new comer Kassie Thibodeau winning the Women’s Stock class to name a few.

On the ISOC National series last year, Team Southside proudly came home with podiums in the Junior, Sport Lite, and Sport classes. Team Southside has always run a limited ISOC National schedule including only Duluth and the Eastern National. The team is proud to announce that this will change for the upcoming 2016 season. Team Southside Polaris is officially partnering with Davies Racing out of Oregon, Ohio.  This partnership will help Team Southside have a year round presence at the ISOC Nationals. The team will now sponsor two riders running the ISOC national series this winter. In the Sport division, the 828 of Logan Davies looks to build off his success from last season as he forges into the 2016 season. Last year, Logan had 6 podium finishes in the Sport Lite class. With technical support from Team Southside Polaris, Logan hopes to utilize this new opportunity in order to achieve his goal of finishing in the top 10 at the end of the season. New to the team and Polaris, FIM World Champion of the Pro Women’s Class and Swedish Champion Elina Öhman is excited transfer her success on the track in Sweden to many successes on the track in the USA. Team Southside is positive that Elina will quickly adjust to her new Polaris. She aims to stay consistent and achieve podium finishes every weekend on the national circuit. The Team is very excited to have both Logan and Elina running the national series for the 2016 race season.

On the East Coast SnoCross series, Team Southside will welcome two newcomers to the Pro Open Class. Finnish riders Pieti Puhakka and Mikko Osmo will be coming to the USA for the winter in order to run both ECS and a limited ISOC Schedule. While Pieti has become accustomed to riding a Polaris, Mikko will be running his first season on a Polaris snowmobile.  Both Pieti and Mikko are very excited to be pursuing their race careers with Team Southside in the USA this winter. Both having successful careers in Finland and abroad, they should be a fantastic fit both on the track and in the trailer.

In the Pro Lite Division Cody Paolella will be returning, hot off of a Pro Lite Championship last winter along with a Pro Open and Pro-Am championship this summer in the NEATV-MX series. He looks to continue his momentum and repeat his race results of last season. In addition, Emil Hansson of Sweden will be coming to the USA for the entirety of the race season to compete in the ECS Pro Lite Division. As this will be both Emil’s first time in the United States and his first season on a Polaris, he hopes to build upon his speed and make use of his time racing ECS for both his personal and professional growth in the sport. Lastly, out of Ontario Canada, Scott Vanderborne will be competing in the Pro Lite Division after a successful season in the CSRA in 2015. A seasoned dirt bike racer, Scott has made a smooth transition to SnoCross and will be an essential contribution to the team.

In the Sport division, Bruce Gaspardi Jr and Ryan Dupont are both returning to the class in the hopes of defending their championships and developing their talent throughout the year. Bruce Gaspardi Jr will also be returning to the 25 Plus Class. Richard Bernard will be a new addition to the Sport Division after successfully running a partial season last winter. Team Southside Polaris is excited to have him on board for the entirety of the 2016 season this winter.

In Pro Women’s class, Nykea “The Cheetah” Williams is returning in hopes of achieving a Pro Women’s championship three winters in a row. Nykea’s race highlights from the 2015 season include a second place finish at the Eastern ISOC National in Salamanca, NY.  After a successful summer racing in the NEATV-MX Series and maintaining her fitness, Nykea looks to transfer this success to the ECS ScoCross Series yet again. Moving up this season, the 196 of Kassie Thibodeau is excited to be entering the Pro Women’s Division. After being removed from the sport for five years, Kassie made her return last winter in the Women’s Stock Class without losing once on a Sunday and suffering only one loss on a Saturday race event. She took home two championships at the culmination of the 2015 season. Motivated by her winning streak, Kassie looks to build upon her achievements last winter, while learning from her teammate. Kassie will also be running the Junior 16-17 classes this winter. Returning to the team for her second year, Ashley Baird will be running both the Women’s Stock and Upper Junior classes with Team Southside Polaris this upcoming season after a second place finish in the Women Stock class last winter. Ashley hopes to build upon her first season with Team Southside by taking the Women Stock Championship this upcoming season.

Rounding out the 2016 team line-up, Gavin Fleury will be coming on board this winter to run the Lower Junior 14-15 and Upper Junior 16-17 classes. He had a great season last year in Junior Novice with multiple final wins and podiums. Gavin is also coming off of a great summer racing ATV’s in the District 3 Series. Both Gavin and his father are diehard Polaris fans and are excited to be back on team red for the year 2016!

This winter, Team Southside is looking beyond SnoCross to one of the fastest growing winter sports: Cross Country racing. In recent years, consumer sleds have taken giant strides forward in terms of technology, durability, and performance. These consumer sleds have now been provided with the stage to both display these aspects and prove their dependability on the track. Team Southside will be partnering with Powell Racing out of Sandown, New Hampshire. Powell Racing has been involved in the sphere of Cross Country racing for multiple years, accomplishing great results throughout the North East. Together, both Team Southside and Powell Racing have put together an impressive lineup for the upcoming winter season. Garrett Powell and Jacob Webb will act as a competitive 1-2 punch in the Semi-Pro Class. Furthermore, Taylor Raisanen and Evan Thurlow will be running the Sport Class. In the Women’s Class, Michele Radloff will be competing for the 2016 season. With a new Axys chassis, Team Southside is looking forward to putting an incredible machine on the top of the podium every weekend.

All and all, it should be a fantastic season and we can’t wait for the snow to come. None of this would be possible without all our great sponsors.
