Steward Baylor Draws First Blood At NEPG Round 1

If the opening round of the 2017 Kenda AMA National Enduro series is even a slight glimpse into the season, enduro racing is in great shape. Over 850 entries pounded the sandy forest trails that made up the Sumter Enduro, during a day that started cool and with a light drizzle in the air but finished with sunshine and moderate, almost perfect riding conditions.

A steady rain in the early morning hours of the Friday leading up to the event had the trails in great condition, with the top classes completing 63 miles of racing. There were plenty of new faces in new colors in the pro ranks at Sumter, but it was the now established combination of Steward Baylor and his Team SRT Off-Road KTM that captured the top spot, just one second ahead of Kailub Russell who has joined Russell Bobbitt in the KTM factor trailer for a full time assault on the NEPG tour. New Rockstar Husky team rider Thad Duvall rounded out the podium in third.
